Second Mural for Fisgard Street

Hafso

A second mural conveying Pacifica Housing’s commitment to home, community and family will go up at the Society’s main administrative offices during Homelessness Action Week (October 7 – 13, 2012).

The 480 square foot mural painted offsite by local artist Kurt Hafso will be installed one panel at a time on the exterior wall of The Pacifica (827 Fisgard St) beginning Tuesday, October 9, 2012.

The mural is part of a two piece art project funded by the City of Victoria (Community Public Art grant), the CRD Arts Development Service (IDEA grant) and The Home Depot Canada Foundation. Artist Joanne Thomson and over 50 community volunteers completed an initial 900 square foot mural on The Pacifica at the end of August.

Local businesses including Calnan Industrial Coatings Ltd, Fruition Paletas, Garside Signs, Home Depot (Victoria and Saanich), Romeo’s Restaurant & Lounge, Serious Coffee (Blanshard St) and Yellow Cab of Victoria have supported the project by donating material, services and volunteer hours.

The community is invited to stop by Pacifica Housing and watch as the mural goes up starting on Tuesday, October 9, 2012.

Pacifica Housing is a non profit charitable organization that provides subsidized housing for families and supported housing for adults with mental heath and/or addictions issues. The organization further provides housing outreach and support services through the Downtown Outreach Services office. www.pacificahousing.ca
