Natural Dyeing Workshop - Acorn Alchemy

  • Yates Street Community Garden 1014 Yates Street Victoria, British Columbia, V8V 5A7 Canada (map)

Come discover the beauty of dyeing with acorns!

In this hands-on workshop with Angie Choly, you’ll learn the basics of immersion dyeing and use locally collected acorns to dye a pair of cotton socks.

We’ll experiment with shifting half of the dye bath with a mordant to create beautiful slate greys and inky tones. You’ll leave with your own naturally dyed socks and a new appreciation for acorns!

Sliding scale admission of $10 to $35 includes all materials. Please email yatesgarden@victoriadra.ca to register.

Accessibility details: The workshop will take place inside the Yates Street Community Garden, accessed through a wide gate and gravel pathways. If you have questions or concerns about accessibility at the event, please email us at yatesgarden@victoriadra.ca.

The closest bus stop (routes 3, 11, 14, 15, 22, 24 and 25) is on the north side of Yates, just west of Cook (approximately 100 metres east of the garden). There is street parking on Yates right in front of the garden.
