Petals to Pigments – Growing & Using Natural Dyes

  • Yates Street Community Garden 1014 Yates Street Victoria, BC, V8V 4Y4 Canada (map)

Curious about growing your own natural dyes? Join us for a workshop exploring the art of dye plants!

We’ll start with the essentials of creating a dye garden—what to plant, how to grow it. Participants will receive small seed packets to start their own dye plants, setting the stage for future workshops in the spring and summer where we’ll work with these homegrown materials.

While we are talking plants we will be dyeing some silkin a solar dye process, and discover how simple shifts with iron oxide and citric acid can dramatically change colours.

This workshop is free for YSCG members, and by donation (suggested $10-20) for non-garden members. Registration is required and can be done by emailing yatescommunitygarden@gmail.com.
