Mayoral Debate

  • The Vic Theatre 808 Douglas Street Victoria, British Columbia, V8W 2B7 Canada (map)

Voting is cool. Informed voting is cooler.

Join the Victoria Downtown Residents Association to hear from candidates for Mayor of Victoria on a variety of issues related to living in the Downtown neighbourhood.

After hosting successful mayoral debates in 2014, 2018 and 2022, we are excited to host our fourth in the lead up to the October 17th municipal election. Journalist Shannon Watters, who moderated the debate that we hosted at The Vic Theatre in 2022, will reprise her role.

Stay tuned for details about which candidates will be participating.

Advance registration is recommended. Click here to reserve your seat.

We are charging a nominal entrance fee of $5 to help cover some of the costs of putting on the event, including providing live captioning. If cost is a barrier to attending, please send an email to engage@victoriadra.ca.

The debate will be live-streamed on Zoom and YouTube. Click here to register for the Zoom meeting.

** Please avoid wearing perfume, cologne or other scented products. **

Accessibility details: The Vic Theatre is fully wheelchair accessible, including an accessible washroom. There will also be a gender-inclusive washroom available during the debate. Captioning services will be provided, with captions projected on the screen behind the debate participants and also available online for those watching remotely. The theatre will be a scent-reduced, alcohol-free space for this event.

We encourage those who are able to walk, cycle or take public transit to the debate. The closest bus stops are on the west side of Douglas between Humboldt and Courtney (about 50 metres north of the entrance to the theatre), on the east side of Douglas just south of Burdett, and on the south side of Burdett just east of Douglas.

Street parking is available around the theatre. The closest parkades are Broughton Square Parkade (635 Broughton St.), Broughton Street Parkade (745 Broughton St.), and Robbins Parking (744 Broughton St. #14).
